Curvy Spine Magic: Workshop for Scoliosis

Please note that this workshop is not suitable for Pilates instructors - see other events for teacher training opportunities.

This 3 hour workshop is designed to be an informative and enriching experience for people with scoliosis, offering anatomical understanding, as well as providing tips and tricks to help ensure that scoliosis doesn't hold you back. The workshop will include a Pilates for scoliosis mat class, where we will introduce movement as a tool for managing a curvature and reducing pain or discomfort. There will be ample opportunity to have your questions about scoliosis answered, in a safe and welcoming environment. Under 18s must be accompanied by one parent/guardian (both attend on one ticket). 

Rika Brixie, founder of Curvy Spine Magic, is a BASI Pilates Instructor, Teacher Training Faculty and Scoliosis Specialist. Rika discovered Pilates following diagnosis with scoliosis at age 14. She danced professionally over the following years with Atlanta Ballet and Oklahoma City Ballet, where she implemented regular Pilates classes into her training, recognising it’s potential for injury prevention and body conditioning. In 2015, Rika returned to the UK and retrained as a Pilates Instructor. She found true inspiration when she began working with others with scoliosis, which lead her to create the BASI Pilates for Scoliosis teacher training workshop, now taught internationally. Rika is passionate about utilising movement and providing education to empower people with scoliosis and help them to manage their curvatures.
